01 / Context & Objectives

Managing Scalable API Connectivity for Sikacore

The Sikacore platform (sikacore.com) operates as a digital system designed to deliver high-availability services to users. As platform adoption expanded, managing incoming client requests, securing backend service boundaries, and ensuring uninterrupted routing became core operational priorities.

Handling modern enterprise traffic requires an infrastructure layer that can mediate diverse consumer requests, enforce access policies, prevent denial-of-service degradation, and route traffic to healthy upstream backends with minimal network latency.

02 / Engineering Scope

VALKYRIES' Technical Mandate

VALKYRIES TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED was tasked with architecting, configuring, and deploying the API gateway infrastructure for Sikacore using API7 Gateway.

Our engineering team focused on four foundational deliverables:

1. Ingress Proxy Configuration Setting up the high-performance reverse proxy runtime to handle HTTPS traffic termination.
2. Upstream Integration Configuring target service destinations, load-balancing algorithms, and active health checks.
3. Security & Access Policy Establishing perimeter token validation and traffic rate-limiting rules to prevent abuse.
4. Deployment & Runbooks Packaging the gateway configuration for deployment and documenting operational procedures.

04 / Technology Deep Dive

Understanding the API7 Gateway Platform

API7 Gateway is an enterprise-grade API management platform built on the high-performance open-source Apache APISIX engine. According to official API7 documentation, the platform delivers core architectural advantages:

Non-Blocking Event Architecture

Leverages Nginx / OpenResty and LuaJIT to handle requests asynchronously. By avoiding thread-per-connection blocking, the gateway achieves ultra-high throughput and sub-millisecond proxy latencies.

Zero-Reload Configuration

Unlike traditional proxies that require process reloads upon configuration updates, API7 synchronizes routing and plugin rules in real time via an etcd distributed key-value store.

Modular Plugin Ecosystem

Features hot-reloading plugins for authentication (JWT, Key-Auth, OAuth2), traffic shaping (limit-req, limit-count), transformations, and telemetry.

Upstream Health & Resiliency

Supports dynamic load balancing (round-robin, chash, consistent hash), active/passive health checks, and automatic circuit breaking when downstreams fail.

05 / Scope Transparency

Implementation Scope & Verification Boundaries

In keeping with VALKYRIES' commitment to strict truthfulness, the table below explicitly distinguishes between verified project details, general technology capabilities, and confidential data:

Category Status Description
Client Reference Verified Sikacore (sikacore.com) is a confirmed client project delivered by VALKYRIES.
Technology Selection Verified API7 Gateway (api7.ai) was selected, integrated, and deployed by VALKYRIES for Sikacore.
Vendor Relationship Clarified VALKYRIES is an independent engineering firm utilizing API7 technology; this does not imply an official partner status, certification, or endorsement by API7.ai.
Internal Topology Confidential Sikacore's private IP addresses, internal VPC topology, and proprietary endpoint paths are withheld under NDA.
Quantitative Metrics Pending Confirmation Exact peak RPS figures, cluster node counts, and latency percentiles require formal client sign-off prior to publication.
